It seems like we think the most important things in life we cannot learn about- like being a good parent or having reasonable relationships with the people around us..
This may be true but at least we can try!!!!
A very important thing in life is getting a job and to reach that goal we often have to go through the process of applying for the job and being called to an interview.
That is what we are going to practice this week and the week after the mid-term break.
Here are the instructions:
As a document
or as text

Today we will be spending the focus on listening..
We start off by doing an example from a CAE test

Here are some links to help you.

Go through planner- Distribute "letters" + language work
Today the term planner for vt 2015 is finally ready.
You have got a paper copy but the digital version is here on the blog on the right column.
As you can see I want to ratchet up the level of commitment and the degree of accountability on the Monday lessons..
Too many students are using this precious time sitting in the cafeteria instead of improving their knowledge of English.
Of course you can still use this time to complete assignments and work on literature or other aspects of the course BUT from now you have to DOCUMENT every week how you use this time.
THIS WILL BE COMPULSORY!!
IT IS OK TO USE THE COMMENT FUNCTION ON THE BLOG FOR THIS PURPOSE.
Back to today, we will distribute our final book today.
It is a modern piece of writing "Letters from the Inside" written by the Australian writer John Marsden.
I have chosen it for three reasons:
1. It is short and easy to read
2. It gives a very good introduction to Australian slang/English
3. It gives good opportunities to discuss themes such as reality, truth and identity
There will be three assignments based on the book. The first one is a language study and will be distributed in week 10.
By then you need to have read up to page 90 in "Letters"
Finally today I am going to distribute a brochure to get you going on your 9-9.50 assignments. Read and discuss the brochure in small groups.
- Which courses would you be interested in ?
-What would it be like to live in New York (+ and -) ?
- Are there similar institutions in Sweden? If so, which ones?
Feed-back on the "Comment" function of the blog please!

Romeo and Juliet Act V
So today we get to the end of the play.
Act V is filled with the tragedy of which the play bears the name...
2 words I want you to note are "denouement" and "catharsis". How do they apply at the end of this play?
"Romeo and Juliet" is one of Shakespeare's earlier plays. This can be seen by the ending.
What evidence is there to suggest this may be the case?
We are going to read the play aloud and divide the roles up in class.
Do you notice anything about the scene structure?
Apart from the last scene of the play how long is the last act?
On Friday you will be watching the film.
The film will need to start at 7.55 in order to see it all by 9.50-10.00. So please TRY TO COME ON TIME.
To round off today write a short newspaper/ tv news item about the events at the end of the play..
Start off with the title/headline:
Verona in shock and grief
